A Lament for a Troubled Friend
She be not fair,
She be not rough.
She be not rough.
She is not smart,
But she is not dumb.
She be not happy,
Unless with all of us.
She casts a smile,
Across the void,
Pretending that all is fine.
But I can see it in her eyes,
She thinks much differently.
For her eyes have betrayed her,
For her eyes have betrayed her,
Yet again.
Oh how it is,
Oh how it is,
That I wish,
You did not feel this way.
I feel your pain,
And see it too.
And only wish,
I could take it away from you.
I spare a moment,
Of my time,
To think of you my friend.
To let you know that I am here,
If you ever need a chat.
So when the day gives way to the abyss,
I want you to think of me.
For I shall be your shining star,
When the walls and floors give way.
And leave you with nothing but,
That dark abyss you fear,
Think of me my friend.
And I shall think of you.
