I Am Me, and No One Else

I Am Me, and No One Else
I am but a mere mortal,
A man of the two.
I be only human,
With more flaws than most.
I think too much,
I breathe too much,
But I am me,
And no one else.

I feel so much,
I hear so much.
The taste of the sea,
It lingers upon my lips.
A feeling of love,
Embedded deep within.
A look of pain,
Inscribed upon my face.
But I am me,
And no one else.

I’ve seen too much,
But not enough.
I fought the dragons,
But haven’t won.
I may never beat them,
But that, it is okay.
For acceptance,
And for me it has been so.

I see things not as others,
But though a different view.
A more realistic type,
But painful in its nature.
For I seek the truth like the wiseman,
And yet it still evades me.
I feel no hope within,
A fact I’m learning to live with.
But this is me,
So take me for who I am,
Or leave me to the shadows.
But I am me,
And no one else.
